Unveiled on August 1, 2010, WWW.PIPETMAN.EU provides a multi-lingual platform that is offered in French, German and English. Orders for Gilson products placed through the website can be shipped to 10 European countries, allowing for an extremely easy shopping experience for users throughout the region. The site also allows users to purchase products in either Euros or Swiss Francs.

“Our customers want to be able to order products when it is convenient for them.” Silke Ubben, Marketing Manager, said. “Consumers throughout Europe now have easy access to our entire line of manual liquid handling products and pricing, and a convenient way to purchase lab equipment directly from Gilson. This online store is also a great tool to reach new customer groups and to support our international expansion.”

Products available on WWW.PIPETMAN.EU range from the entire line of PIPETMAN® pipettes and Gilson tips, to personal bench top equipment. As an incentive for using the new web shop, customers placing orders online between now and Nov. 30, 2010, will receive a 10% discount off their entire order.

The overall navigation, placing items in the shopping cart, and applying discount codes is very intuitive and fast to manage. After registration, the login and user account are activated by the Gilson customer support group and the user can start placing items in their online shopping cart. Currently, only purchase orders are accepted as payment; however online payment options will be available in the near future.

The new online store allows customers to keep in touch with Gilson, to find out more about high quality manual liquid handling products useful for any laboratory and, furthermore, keep up-to-date about new product news, promotions and special offers.

Gilson, Inc. 60 Years of History

Gilson has been a long standing scientific instrument manufacturing company since the 1950s when Gilson Medical Electronics began; through the 1970’s when the pipette division was created, and today as new products are being developed.

The Gilson Museum is being constructed in the foyer of Gilson’s main building. The company history will be preserved and displayed for guests and employees to enjoy.

Gilson employees assisted with many aspects of the project. Atika El Sayed organized, gathered memorabilia and oversaw the whole project. Larry Paskey re-assembled old units to make almost all of them work again. Lyle Rickman assisted with moving around heavy items and hanging portraits in the proper area. The Marketing Department restored old newspaper clippings and designed product and logo timelines to be hung in the museum.

Gilson has always been very innovative; we want to demonstrate this innovation to our visitors, encourage innovation, and remember the individuals who made this company successful for the past five decades.

Gilson's Green Thumb

Over the past few months, 27 Gilson employees have been working to make the world a greener place; or at least a little tastier.

Tucked behind Gilson’s main building, the first year of Gilson’s own community garden is flourishing. You will find a wide variety of produce is being grown – from tomatoes and peas to unique items such as kohlrabi and Indian mustard. There is even a plot with rose bushes!

“We’re a family of gardeners; we had an empty field, so why not?” Molly Gilson, Director of Operations-MLH, said. “It is neat to see different purposes for which people are growing things. They’re literally growing their lunches.”

Each participant is responsible for tending to their own assigned space, and many have volunteered to help with the overall garden by participating in various committees.

“It’s great to see everyone working together to make the garden a success, especially the willingness of the Chief Operating Officer to plunge in and work on the assembly issues,” Dean Sperry, Software Engineering Manager said.

Employees have gained a sense of camaraderie; everyone has provided gardening knowledge or physical labor to keep the gardens looking beautiful.
